Abstract
This paper outlines the concept of “human dignity” in order to unravel what values and principles of law includes this notion. To do this, after posing the problem of the definition and the various axiological positions, studying what happens to the various foundations that make eminent dignity has such a value. It is studied from the metaphysical perspective the value it deserves each of the components of the human being: the substance and accidents (spirit and matter); act of being and its properties (v. gr. freedom as Polo), essentially powers (especially the intellect and will) acts seconds (human actions) and habits (v. gr. virtues). Contrary to common positions favoring a single justification, here it is understood that the foundation of human dignity is manifold. Thus defined the subject of the foundation of the dignity, evidenced covered by this concept and what values are intrinsically linked (v. Gr. The divine value, society, the environment, and more instrumental values love, truth, freedom and justice. Defined the value of human dignity, it examines whether it is an absolute or relative value, and what legal implications of adopting one or other conception. Finally, in conclusion, are synthesized six principles related to human dignity, which represent an organized some of the findings that have been obtained throughout the study.
